Background

Emmanuel Christian School is an inter-denominational work supported by several Christian churches and friends in the city and elsewhere. As our name suggests our school is first and foremost a Christian school, where the Lordship of Jesus Christ is recognized and confessed. Bible study is a normal part of the school day where the revelation and truth of the Scriptures are brought to bear on all the study and activities of the school. We accept applications from Christian families who have established a home that seeks to serve the Lord, train children in the way of godliness and are active members of a Bible-believing church. The school is administered by a Board of Directors drawn from parents and interested individuals who can subscribe to the Statement of Faith on which the school is founded.

The school offers three sectors: a bilingual elementary, an English high school with partial French immersion and a French high school. At present Emmanuel has an enrolment of more than 300 students with a staff of 30 full and part-time teachers and administrators. It serves to provide a distinctively Christian education with high academic standards, following the curriculum approved by the Ministry of Education, Leisure and Sports (MELS). To date, the vast majority of its graduates have proceeded to post-secondary education and a pleasing number have been led to test the waters on the mission field or go into other forms of Christian work. As an appropriate reflection of its origins, Emmanuel continues to provide Christian education to students from a variety of church backgrounds to this day.
